SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2013 introduced Ryan Coogler's "Fruitvale" which is an independent film about Oscar Grant, who was fatally shot by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police back on New Year's Day 2009.
The movie was produced by Forest Whitaker and stars Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Butler. "Fruitvale Station", as the movie is also known by, was named after the BART station where Mr. Grant lost his life.
We are sure to see more of the talented Ryan Coogler's work in the future as he has a natural gift, recognized by his high school teacher, who once told him that he should "go to Hollywood and write screenplays".
